Setting Up Tynker with ClassLink

Edited

Tynker can connect with ClassLink to provide single sign-on as well as rostering capability to easily synchronize teachers, students, and classes.

The ClassLink connection is initiated by the school or district, rather than by Tynker.

Before setting up the integration

As an administrator, have the following information ready:

  • The schools that will use Tynker.

  • The teachers who need access.

  • The students who should be included.

  • The Tynker administrator or license holder.

  • The person responsible for managing ClassLink.

We recommend sharing only the schools and users who need access to Tynker.

How the integration works

The general flow is: Your SIS → ClassLink → Tynker

Your district determines what information is available through ClassLink. Tynker receives the information that your district chooses to share.

Depending on the configuration, this may include:

  • Schools

  • Teachers

  • Students

  • Classes

  • Class enrollments

Setting up the connection

  1. Confirm the schools and users that will use Tynker.

  2. Have your ClassLink administrator initiate the Tynker connection through ClassLink.

  3. Configure the appropriate data to share with Tynker.

  4. Allow the information to synchronize.

  5. Verify that the expected teachers, students, and classes appear in Tynker.

  6. Have teachers sign in through ClassLink.

Important

Unlike Clever, Tynker cannot initiate the ClassLink connection on behalf of your district. The ClassLink connection must be initiated by your school or district.
