Setting Up Tynker with Clever

Edited

Tynker can integrate with Clever to provide single sign-on and, depending on the services included with your school's subscription, roster teachers, students, and classes.

The Clever integration is managed at the school or district level. Your Clever administrator determines what information is shared with Tynker.

Before setting up the integration

Please have the following information available:

  • The school or schools that will use Tynker.

  • The teachers who need Tynker access.

  • The students who should be included in the Tynker roster.

  • The Tynker administrator or license holder.

  • The person responsible for managing your Clever integration.

What information is shared?

Depending on your Tynker service and Clever configuration, information may include:

  • Schools

  • Teachers

  • Students

  • Classes

  • Class enrollments

Only the information shared through your Clever configuration will be available to Tynker.

Tynker Login vs. Tynker Premium

Clever can be used with different Tynker services.

Tynker Login provides single sign-on through Clever.

Tynker Premium includes single sign-on as well as automatic teacher and student rostering.

If you have Tynker Premium you won't also separately need Tynker Login

Recommended setup process

  1. Determine which schools and users will use Tynker.

  2. Confirm the appropriate Tynker service.

  3. Have your Clever administrator configure the appropriate data sharing.

  4. Connect Tynker through Clever.

  5. Verify that the expected teachers, students, and classes appear in Tynker.

  6. Have teachers sign in through Clever once their accounts are available.

Important account consideration

A user's role in Clever should accurately reflect their role in Tynker.

For example, a teacher should not also be configured as a Clever District Administrator if that creates conflicting account roles in Tynker.

If you need assistance reviewing your Clever setup, contact Tynker Support for Schools.
